Subject Overviews
Every subject at Bexton has its own Subject Overview. Each one sets out how that subject is taught across the school in a form you can read in a few minutes.
Each overview includes:
why we teach the subject the way we do, and what we want children to take away from it
how it's taught in practice, including the schemes and resources that support it
the curriculum journey year by year so you can see what's taught and when
how knowledge and skills build from one year group to the next
how the subject connects to The Pathway, our framework for personal development, enrichment and real-world experience
The overviews are summaries. Behind each one sits a fuller set of documents that staff use day to day: a Subject Progression Document, which maps knowledge and skills in detail across every year group; a Subject Handbook, which sets out expectations for planning, teaching, assessment and adaptation for pupils with SEND; and the scheme of work that supports sequencing and planning. Our teaching and learning, curriculum, assessment, SEND and behaviour handbooks sit behind all of them.
If you'd like more detail about a particular subject, these documents are available on request. Please contact the school office and we'll put you in touch with the subject leader.
