World Mental Health Day – Hello Yellow

Today, we came together to celebrate World Mental Health Day and show our support for the charity Young Minds through their Hello Yellow campaign. The children and staff added a cheerful touch of yellow to their outfits and took part in themed activities designed to promote awareness and understanding of mental health.

We were also joined by Stable Minds from Knutsford, who led an engaging assembly to help us start meaningful conversations about mental health and wellbeing. A huge thank you to everyone who took part and donated so generously to support this important cause. You can still please donate using this link.

Together, we’re helping to make talking about mental health something we can all feel comfortable doing. 💛

A reminder that our first FOBS meeting of the year will be held on Monday 13th October at 7:30pm.

Please do come along if you can - we’ll be planning out the events for the year ahead and sharing them between the different year groups so no one will be left with a huge role (we promise!).

Year 4 & 5 Author Visit - Clare Harlow

We are very excited to be welcoming the author Clare Harlow to run a workshop with the children in Years 4 and 5 next Thursday afternoon.  She will talk to them about her books and what it is like to be an author.

After the session, she will be available to sign any books that children want to buy.  Please use this link to buy her book before she arrives on Thursday.

Parking Considerations Around School

In just the first five weeks of term, we have already received eight separate complaints from local residents about inconsiderate parking around school. While I am sure no one deliberately sets out to cause upset, it is important to recognise the wider impact this has on our community.

Blocking a driveway doesn’t just frustrate our neighbours and prevent them from leaving their homes, it also damages the school’s relationship with the community and puts additional pressure on our office team, who are left to deal with understandably upset residents. I'm sure you will agree that this time could be much better spent supporting our children and families directly.

Please can I also remind you that the staff car park is strictly not to be used for pupil drop-off or pick-up – even if you are running late! We have had several near misses with children walking through the car park and nothing is more important than keeping our children safe.

Please take a moment to think about where you park. A little extra care goes a long way in showing respect for our neighbours and keeping everyone safe. Thank you, as always, for your support and cooperation.

Miss Dickinson's Travels!

We thought you might like a quick update on Miss Dickinson’s travels to Moshi, Tanzania. She has been having a wonderful time supporting the building of a new school, resourcing classrooms and keeping us updated on the fantastic projects and work with children she has been involved in.

A number of parents have asked for the JustGiving link to contribute towards raising funds for the building materials, so we have included it here: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/becca-dickinson-tanzania?utm_medium=CR&utm_source=CL

After completing her volunteering in Moshi, Miss Dickinson will be heading to Australia. We’ll keep you posted on the next stage of her travels soon!

Eco News

Have you seen any ladybirds this week? There has been a huge rise in numbers due to the weather conditions which make it ideal for them to lay eggs. They are friends to gardeners as they eat other mini beasts called aphids which feed on plants and flowers.

More information can also be found on woodlandtrust.org.uk/blog/2021/03/ladybird-identification/

As the Autumn nights draw in and dark Winter mornings due, you maybe reluctant to open the  house windows having had the heating on?  To combat condensation especially in the bathroom/shower room consider a bathroom plant. Not only does it look good it helps absorb excess moisture(if you forget to water it!)and purifies the air.
