Sunny Days Are Here!
With the warmer weather arriving, please can we ask that all children bring a sun hat and a water bottle to school each day. Please also apply sun cream before they come to school in the morning. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe, happy and sun-safe while enjoying the wonderful sunshine!
Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of VE Day
Thursday 8th May marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day – Victory in Europe Day – which commemorates the end of World War II in Europe in 1945. It’s an important moment in history, celebrating peace and remembering the courage and sacrifice of those who lived through the war.
We’ll be marking this special occasion in school with a VE Day assembly on Friday 9th May, along with a range of classroom activities to help children understand its significance and reflect on the values of unity, resilience and peace.
There will also be VE Day-themed merchandise available in school next week. All proceeds will go towards the Royal British Legion’s mission of supporting veterans and people living with disabilities.

Eco News
Now is the ideal time to sow seeds for crops in Summer and Autumn. If you haven't tried growing fruit or vegetables then why not start off with runner beans? Not only do the tendrils cling onto support canes and grow quickly into giant stalks they produce beautiful flowers before changing into beans. Seed packets provide clear instructions for planting for anything you choose.
If this idea is too daunting, why not try growing herbs? Popping outside to cut a few chives or a sprig of rosemary to add to cooking a meal, makes all the difference taste wise.
Year 3 Chester Zoo
The children had a fantastic time at Chester Zoo last week. We explored the butterfly, reptile and red ape houses to understand more about the climate and humidity in the rainforests. We discovered fascinating facts about the different rainforest layers and deforestation in our workshops.

Florence Nightingale Visit
Year 2 had a very exciting visit from Florence Nightingale this week. She told us all about her life, and her experiences helping soldiers during the Crimean War. We even got to see her lamp!

Reception Chicks
It has been super exciting in Reception class this week - we have hatched our very own chicks! The children have been carefully watching the eggs in the incubator and learning all about the life cycle of a chicken. We talked about how the chicks grow inside the eggs and what they need to stay warm and safe, we learnt that they eat the yolk of the egg inside. Everyone was thrilled when the first chicks began to hatch, and the children were full of wonder as they watched them peck their way out of their shells. We are now helping to look after the fluffy chicks by keeping them warm, feeding them, and making sure they have fresh water. It’s been a wonderful hands-on learning experience!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday Mia and Ava, thank you, for your beautiful books!
