Curriculum, Teaching & Learning
One journey. Every child. Endless possibilities.
At Bexton , we believe that education should do more than prepare children academically: it should prepare them for life.
Our curriculum is the journey children travel during their time with us. It shapes what they know, what they can do and, importantly, who they become. It is designed to open doors to knowledge, to opportunity and to the kind of future each child chooses for themselves.
At the heart of this journey sits The Pathway. Through the Five Trails of Performance, Social, Community, Team and Communication, children develop confidence, build relationships, learn to express themselves and begin to understand their role in the world.
Learning at Bexton is not just about acquiring knowledge. It is about growing as a person.
The Pathway: Learning that makes a difference
The Pathway defines how learning feels at Bexton. It ensures that children experience a curriculum that is purposeful, engaging and connected to the real world.
Through the Five Trails, pupils regularly perform, collaborate, communicate, contribute and reflect. These opportunities are woven into learning so that knowledge is applied in meaningful ways and remembered over time.
This approach helps children to see the relevance of what they are learning, to develop belief in themselves and to understand their place within the world around them.
Knowledge. Character. Experiences.
Our curriculum is built around three interconnected elements that shape every child’s journey through the school.
Children develop strong knowledge through carefully sequenced learning that builds over time. Teachers ensure that new learning connects to prior understanding, helping pupils to remember more and deepen their thinking.
Alongside this, pupils develop strong character. Through The Pathway, they learn to work with others, communicate effectively, take responsibility and approach challenges with resilience.
We also place great importance on strong experiences. Through visits, trips and our Bright Beginnings initiative, pupils encounter learning that broadens horizons, builds confidence and creates lasting memories.
