Winter Water Safety
As colder weather arrives, we are reminding children and families about the dangers of frozen ponds, lakes and rivers. Ice can be thin and unsafe, even when it looks solid. Children should always play where adults can see them, wear warm winter clothing and stay well away from frozen water. If someone does fall in, it’s important to get help straight away and never attempt a rescue alone. Staying informed helps keep everyone safe this winter.
Primary School Applications
Primary School applications are still open for children starting in September 2026. The closing date is 15th January. Parents still need to apply even if the child has a brother or sister already at the school or the child is attending a nursery/preschool attached to the school.
To apply online and for further information please go to Apply for September 2026 school place.
OPAL Play Donations Needed
Parents and carers, are you having a clear-out after Christmas? If you have any unwanted items that could be given a new lease of life through OPAL play, we would be very grateful for donations of the following:
Suitcases with wheels
Trunki cases
Pushchairs (child-sized and doll-sized)
Outdoor or garden chairs
Beanbag chairs
Barbie dolls or similar
Plastic farm animals (suitable for Reception age and above)
Cushions — the bigger and plusher, the better!
Sandpit toys (always in demand)
Clean compost bins
Thank you, your support makes a huge difference in enriching children’s play experiences.
