Final Reminder – Harvest Collection for Hope Central Food Bank
A final reminder that Hope Central Food Bank will be collecting our Harvest donations next Friday, 16th October, so there is still time to make a contribution!
If you are able to donate any non-perishable food items or household essentials, we would be incredibly grateful. Hope Central is particularly in need of tinned foods, cereals, instant noodles, microwave rice and long-life milk.
Every donation, however big or small, will help support local families in need and is a wonderful way for our Bexton children to put their Community Trail values into action.
Thank you so much to everyone who has already donated – your kindness and generosity are hugely appreciated! 💛
Reporting Your Child's Absence
A gentle reminder to all parents and carers of the importance of notifying school as soon as possible (before 9am) if your child is going to be absent.
How to report an absence
If your child is going to be absent from school, please let us know as early as possible using one of the following methods:
Telephone: Call our dedicated absence line via 01565 632816, where you can leave an answerphone message explaining the reason for your child's absence.
Email: Contact the school office at reception@bexton.cheshire.sch.uk.
Please ensure you provide your child's name, class and reason for absence.
Our attendance and safeguarding procedures
As part of our attendance and safeguarding procedures, if a child is absent from school and we have not received a reason for their absence, our office team will make contact with parents and carers through telephone calls, text messages and emails to establish the reason and ensure the child is safe and well.
If we are unable to make contact, we may also need to carry out a welfare check at the family home. This is an important part of our safeguarding responsibilities and helps us ensure that all children are accounted for.
We would therefore be grateful if parents could report absences promptly and respond to any communication from school regarding their child's attendance.
Further information can be found in our School Attendance Policy, available on the Policies page of our school website.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep all our children safe.
FOBS Meeting – Monday 12th October at 7.30pm
A quick reminder that our next Friends of Bexton School (FOBS) meeting is taking place this Monday, 12th October, at 7.30pm, and we'd love to see as many parents and carers there as possible!
FOBS plays such an important role in our school community, helping to organise fantastic events and raise valuable funds that make a real difference to the experiences and opportunities we can offer our children.
Whether you've been involved with FOBS before or are completely new, everyone is welcome! There's absolutely no expectation to take on a big commitment – simply coming along, sharing ideas or offering a little help when you can is hugely appreciated.
It's also a lovely opportunity to meet other parents, get involved in school life and help shape some of the exciting events we have planned for the year ahead.
Please do come along if you can – the more parents involved, the more we can achieve together!
Primary School Admissions – Reception Intake September 2027
If your child was born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023, they will be eligible to start Reception in September 2027.
The deadline for submitting applications is Friday 15 January 2027.
Parents and carers are strongly encouraged to list three school preferences when completing their application.
Please remember that you must still apply for a Reception place, even if your child already attends a nursery or preschool attached to a school, or has an older brother or sister attending the school. A place is not automatically guaranteed.
Applications must be made through your home local authority (the council where you live), even if you are applying for a school in a different local authority area.
How to apply:
By telephone: If you are unable to apply online, please contact Cheshire East Council on 0300 123 2012 for assistance.
We would encourage all families with children due to start school in September 2027 to submit their applications in good time to avoid missing the deadline.
A Gentle Reminder – Scooters and Bikes on the Playground
We know how tempting it can be to whizz through the playground on a scooter or bike (for children and parents alike!), especially when everyone is excited to get into school or head home at the end of the day!
However, we would like to remind everyone that bikes and scooters should be pushed, rather than ridden, through the school playground at drop-off and collection times.
Unfortunately, we've had a number of near misses recently, and with so many families moving around the playground, particularly our littlest children, we're keen to avoid an accident happening.
We certainly don't want to spoil anyone's fun, but we'd really appreciate your support in making sure everyone hops off their wheels before entering the playground.
Thank you for helping us keep our playground a safe place for everyone!
