A Great Start to the Term!

Although it has only been a four-day week, we have certainly packed a great deal into our first week back! It has been wonderful to see the children return with such enthusiasm and energy, ready for what promises to be another exciting and memorable half term.

This week, our Year 6 children enjoyed a visit from staff at Knutsford Academy, who spent time answering questions, sharing information about life at secondary school and introducing the children to their new uniform. Meanwhile, our Rainbow Room pupils had a fantastic day at Manchester Airport, where they explored the Runway Visitor Park, climbed aboard aircraft and even had the opportunity to dress up as pilots. It was a memorable experience and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved.

Looking ahead, next week brings the second Reception Trip to Cheshire Forest Schools, the start of the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check and the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check. We know the children have worked incredibly hard and we are confident they will do themselves proud. We are also looking forward to welcoming Peter Murray from Pulse of Perfumery, who will be leading a special assembly as part of Knutsford's "Paint the Town Yellow" campaign. In addition, preparations for Sports Week will begin with Sports Day practice ahead of the festivities starting on Monday 15th June!

The remainder of the summer term is packed with exciting events, opportunities and celebrations, and we can't wait to share them with you. Please do take a moment to note the important dates listed at the top of this newsletter and keep an eye out for future communications, as we certainly wouldn't want you to miss out on any of the fun!

Summer Holiday Club

We are delighted that the wonderful Kirsty Ruff will once again be running our Summer Holiday Club throughout the summer holidays (excluding the final week). If you are looking for childcare over the summer break, this is always a fantastic option and hugely popular with the children.

Miss. Ruff has already started planning a range of exciting activities and adventures, and with the school grounds all to themselves, the children are guaranteed to have a brilliant time!

If you think you may require a place, we would be very grateful if you could book as far in advance as possible. Early bookings help us to plan staffing levels effectively and ensure that we can accommodate as many children as possible.

Please see the poster below for further information and booking details.

Important Reminder - Play Clothing

One of the many things we love about being an OPAL Outdoor Play school is that children have the opportunity to enjoy outdoor play every day, whatever the weather. Whether they are building, exploring, creating or simply enjoying time with friends, outdoor play is an important part of the school day and brings enormous benefits for children's wellbeing, confidence and development.

To help children make the most of these opportunities, please ensure they have suitable clothing available at school each day so they can enjoy outdoor play comfortably in all conditions. We ask that all children have:

• A waterproof coat (such as a fold-up mac, cagoule or rain jacket)
• Waterproof over trousers
• A sun hat
• Wellington boots

As we all know, the British weather can be somewhat unpredictable and it is not unusual to experience sunshine and showers within the same day! Having the right clothing available ensures that children can continue to enjoy all aspects of outdoor play, whatever the forecast may bring.

We do keep a small supply of spare clothing and footwear in school for those occasions when items are forgotten. However, these resources are becoming limited, so we would be very grateful for your support in ensuring that children come to school prepared for outdoor play each day.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support in helping us provide rich, enjoyable outdoor experiences for all children throughout the year.

Intra-Health School Nurse and Immunisation Team:

We have received the following update from the School Health Team regarding changes to the consent process for school vaccinations.

Rather than sending a separate email, and in an effort to reduce the number of messages landing in your inbox each week, we thought it would be helpful to share the information here in this week's newsletter.

Please see the update from the School Health Team below:

Dear Parents and Carers,

We’re writing to let you know about  change to how you’ll be asked to give consent for school vaccinations.

From July 2026, our local NHS school age immunisation service will contact parents and guardians directly to ask for consent.

You’ll receive an email or text message from the NHS with a link to an online consent form.

You can use the online form to:

  • give consent for your child to be vaccinated

  • say you do not want your child to be vaccinated

  • update your contact details if needed

Filling in the form will be quick and easy. It’s important to respond, even if you do not want your child to be vaccinated.

What information will we share

To allow the NHS immunisation team to contact you, we will give them:

  • your child’s name, date of birth, postcode and school class

  • your email address and mobile phone number

These details will only be used to send messages about your child’s vaccinations.

You can find more information about the school age vaccination schedule on the NHS website.

Keeping your information safe

Your personal data will be stored securely in line with NHS data security standards. Only authorised members of the immunisation team and the digital service team can access your contact details.

If you have any questions

If you have questions about vaccinations or the consent form, please contact the immunisation team at imms.w-ce@intrahealth.co.uk

If you have questions about how the school shares information, please contact us.

Water Safety

As we move into the warmer summer months, many families will be spending more time around rivers, lakes, reservoirs, canals, beaches and swimming pools. Water can be great fun, but it is important that children and adults understand how to stay safe.

We have been asked by the local authority to share the attached water safety information with all families. The poster contains some simple but important reminders about staying safe near water, including supervising children closely, understanding local conditions and knowing what to do in an emergency.

Please take a few moments to read the information below and discuss it with your child. Taking a few simple precautions can help everyone enjoy the summer safely.

The one-hour session will take place on Thursday 25th June from 7.00pm–8.00pm and will provide advice, guidance and useful tips that families can use at home.

If your child has ADHD, or you feel you would benefit from additional strategies to support homework routines at home, this may be a helpful session to attend.

Please see the flyer below for further information and details of how to register.

Happy Birthday!
