Term Dates 2026 - 2027
We are pleased to share the approved school term dates for 2026–27, as confirmed by our Local Governing Board.
This is also a helpful time to remind families how important regular school attendance is for children’s learning, wellbeing and friendships. While we completely understand that children will occasionally be unwell, it is important that absence remains rare wherever possible.
It can sometimes sound as though 90% attendance is quite good, but in reality it means:
• Around 19 days absent across the school year
• Almost four weeks of learning missed
• This level is classed by the government as persistent absence
• If repeated throughout primary school, it would amount to well over a full year of lost education
Term-time holidays should only be taken in exceptional circumstances. Unauthorised absences of five days or more will result in a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) issued by the Local Authority.
We truly appreciate your support in ensuring children are in school as much as possible, giving them the best chance to learn and thrive. Holidays taken in term time have reduced significantly this year thanks to our shared commitment and increased awareness of government guidance. Let’s continue working together to give our pupils the very best start.
Open Afternoon- Friday 20th March
A reminder that our annual Open Afternoon will take place on Friday 20th March, starting at 1:45pm. Parents are warmly invited to visit the school, explore their children's work and celebrate their progress ahead of the Parents’ Evening sessions scheduled for the following week.
The afternoon will begin with a short talk on the growing impact of technology and AI in schools, along with an overview of the school’s approach to online safety. As digital tools become an increasingly important part of children’s learning and everyday lives, this session will give parents a helpful insight into how we use technology in school and how we work to ensure pupils remain safe and responsible online.
Following this, there will be an opportunity to visit the children’s classrooms, see their work first-hand and hear about the exciting learning experiences they have been involved in.
This is a wonderful opportunity to see the children in their school environment, celebrate their achievements and share in their learning journey. We look forward to welcoming you at 1:45pm on Friday 20th March.
Please arrive promptly via the front entrance so we can begin the talk on time.
Science week
We have had a fantastic time celebrating British Science week, giving pupils the chance to explore the exciting world of science beyond the classroom. Throughout the week, we were delighted to welcome several parents who work in science-related fields, who generously gave their time to talk to the children about their careers and share their real-life experiences in science. These inspiring sessions helped the children see how science is used in the real world and sparked lots of curiosity and questions. The week ended on Friday with a brilliant day of experiments, where each year group set up their own investigation. Each class then visited one another’s experiments, with pupils confidently explaining what they were testing and the science behind it. It was a wonderful celebration of curiosity, teamwork and scientific thinking.
United Utilities Visit to Bexton
As part of our Science Week celebrations, Bexton children enjoyed a great science-themed assembly from the Outreach team at United Utilities today. The team shared information about an important environmental project taking place locally at the Moor in Knutsford, which aims to improve water quality and restore the ecosystem for wildlife and the community to enjoy. The children learned why clean water is so important for plants, animals and people and how removing sediment from the Moor Pool will help improve the health of the pond and the wildlife that lives there.
During the assembly, the children also had the chance to vote for the name of the tunnelling machine that will dig the underground tunnel for the project. They were also invited to take part in a poster competition, designing a poster about what they love about rivers and ponds. The winning poster will be displayed around the Moor while the works take place. Children have been asked to design a poster at home (see details below) and return it to school after the Easter holidays by Friday 24th April.
Our Year 5 pupils will also be taking part in follow-up sessions with the United Utilities team, building on their recent learning about rivers and finding out more about careers within United Utilities.
A huge thank you to one of our Bexton parents - Mr Millard - and his team for providing Bexton children with such an enjoyable and informative opportunity to learn about the environmental work happening in our local area.
Nutrition for Children
On Thursday 19th March at 7pm, a free panel talk will be held at Knutsford Market Hall, Silk Mill Street for parents and carers focusing on children’s nutrition and wellbeing, with expert guidance and support.
