Information for Parents and Carers

Please find below the digital copies of the Information Leaflets that were handed out on Bump Up Day at the end of last academic year. These contain lots of useful information specific to your child’s class and will help you to know what to expect throughout the year.

Homework

Homework tasks this year will give the children the opportunity to reinforce, consolidate and practise what they have been learning about that week in class.

Homework will rotate between English and Maths. Each week, we will post on this page whether it is an English or Maths week, along with the relevant pages to complete in the homework book.

For English homework, children will use their CGP Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling book, while Maths homework will be completed in their White Rose Maths book. Homework will be chosen carefully to match the learning that children are currently doing in class or to provide an opportunity to revisit and revise previous learning.

This year, we have moved from Spelling Shed to Ready Steady Spell. Each week, children will bring home a list of spellings to practise using the spelling sheet provided. There is no weekly spelling test; instead, children will complete a spelling quiz at the end of each half term. Short, regular practice across the week is the best way to help children learn their spellings.

Homework will be set on a Thursday and should be completed and returned to school by the following Thursday.

In addition, we encourage children to read every day for a short period of time. Reading regularly is one of the most effective ways you can support your child's development, not only in English but across all areas of the curriculum.

Please also encourage your child to access Times Table Rock Stars as regularly as possible. Regular practice will help to develop their fluency, accuracy and recall of times tables.

This Week's Homework

This is an English week. Please complete pages 62 and 63, which is a chance to practise our work on punctuating speech.
