School Closes

A Fantastic First Week!

What a wonderful first few days we've had! It has been so lovely to welcome the children back to school and see them settling into their new classrooms so beautifully - it’s almost as if we were never away!

A very warm welcome also goes to our new starters across the school, as well as our new Reception and Pre-School cohorts, who have been an absolute delight. We know the Bexton family will make you feel at home and we hope you’ll be very happy during your time here.

Each Friday, we will send out the Bexton Bulletin so you can stay up to date with upcoming events, important notices, and celebrations of the children’s achievements. Please do take the time to read it each week, as it contains all the key information you’ll need.

Meet the Teacher

A reminder that we will be hosting our "Meet the Teacher" afternoon on Wednesday 10th September for Reception to Y6 and Rainbow Room parents (Pre-School will hold their session slightly later in the term).

To help parents visit more than one classroom, we'll run two identical sessions:

  • Doors open at 4:50pm so you can make your way to the relevant classroom

  • 5:00-5:25pm Session 1 (in your child's classroom)

  • 5:30-5:55pm Session 2 (in your child's classroom)

  • If you have only one child, we suggest you come to the second session

At 6:00pm there will be a short talk in the hall from the leadership team to share the school's priorities for the year and information about Personal Development opportunities at Bexton. We expect this to last around half an hour. Please do try to attend if you can - we greatly value the chance to build strong relationships with parents and keep you informed about the positive things happening at Bexton.

Kerb Drill

If your child walks or bikes to school, please take a moment to review these safety tips with them using the ‘Kerb Drill’ (Stop, Look, Listen, Think)

Think: Find the safest place to cross, away from bends and parked cars. Use pedestrian crossings where possible

Stop: Stand on the pavement near the kerb.

Look: Look all around for traffic. Check right, then left, then right again.

Listen: Listen carefully for any vehicles you might not see.

Wait: If traffic is coming, let it pass.

Look and Listen Again: Once it's safe and there are no vehicles, walk straight across the road.

Remember also that if your child rides their bike to school, please ensure they wear a helmet, wear clothing that enhances their visibility and have lights on their bike that work and that they use.

Lots of young people have a habit of listening to music when travelling and don’t hear potential problems especially when vehicles are often very quiet. Please remind them that listening to music while biking is not recommended.

For those who drive your children to school, we ask that you please be extra mindful of your speed and surroundings in and around the school.

By working together, we can ensure that every child's journey to and from school is as safe as possible. Your support in reinforcing these messages at home is invaluable. We appreciate your partnership in making this a great, and safe, school year for everyone.

Dogs at the School Gate

We kindly ask that parents do not tie their dogs to the school gates or railings at drop-off or pick-up times. Some children have shared that they feel anxious walking past dogs, particularly when they are barking and we want to make sure that everyone feels safe and comfortable coming into school. Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a welcoming environment for all our pupils.

Walking Home Permissions - Year 4, 5 & 6

As children grow in independence, parents of pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 have the option to update their child’s walking home permissions. If you haven’t already, and you would like to give permission for your child to walk home independently, please complete the online permission form here: Permission to walk.

If you are happy for your child’s walking home preferences from last year to remain the same, you do not need to take any action.

A reminder:

  • Permission applies to the whole week; we are unable to manage permissions for specific days.

  • By granting permission, you are agreeing that your child will leave the classroom independently at the end of the school day. This includes situations where you may meet them at the gate or elsewhere on the playground (e.g. at a younger sibling’s classroom).

Thank you for helping us to keep our going home procedures clear and consistent.

Reminder for End of Day Pickup

If your child is going home with a friend or another adult, please ensure you write a note in your child's diary or email the school office to inform us of the change. This helps us keep all children safe and ensures a smooth end to the school day.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Join our Team as a Lunchtime Play Leader

We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Lunchtime Play Leader to help support and enhance our lunchtime provision. It will be for 1 hour per day, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

If you enjoy working with children and would like to be part of the fun and excitement of our OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) lunchtimes, we would love to hear from you! Please email businessmanager@bexton.cheshire.sch.uk

Birthday Celebrations at School

At Bexton, we love celebrating birthdays with our pupils. To support healthy lifestyles and avoid any allergy risks, we kindly ask that children do not bring in sweets or chocolates to share.

Instead, we invite families to mark the occasion by donating a book of your child’s choice to their class. This special gift is then enjoyed together by the teacher and classmates, and becomes a lasting reminder of your child’s birthday.

This approach not only avoids food-related concerns, but also:

  • Encourages a love of reading.

  • Enriches our class libraries with fresh and exciting stories.

  • Creates a meaningful birthday tradition that every child can take pride in.

Thank you for helping us make birthdays at Bexton both healthy and memorable!

Healthy Eating & Nut-Free Reminder

As part of our commitment to giving children the best possible start in life, we are following the latest government guidance on healthy eating. We want to do all we can to support our children and families in making positive food choices, so we kindly ask that you do your best to follow this guidance when preparing your child’s packed lunches and snacks.

We would also like to remind everyone that our school and preschool are strictly nut-free. Some of our children have severe, life-threatening allergies, so it is vital that no nuts or nut-containing products are brought into school. Please take extra care when packing food to ensure the safety of all children.

Thank you for your support and understanding in keeping our school community healthy and safe.

Bexton Birthdays

We love celebrating birthdays together in school but for online safety reasons we have chosen to no longer include children’s names.

Happy birthday! Thank you, for your amazing book!
