Red Envelope Week - Monday 9th to Friday 13th February

Please keep an eye out for a red envelope in your child’s book bag this afternoon!

From Monday 9th February, children will receive a red envelope. If you are able to take part, please place your donation inside and return it to school by Friday 14th February. Red post boxes will be available outside each classroom for easy collection.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Red Envelope Week at Bexton. It’s a simple way for families to support the school, and every contribution - no matter the size - makes a real difference. Thanks to your generosity, FOBS has funded projects such as the Trim Trail, reading shed, OPAL activities and classroom canopies over the years. We are now well over halfway towards fundraising for our current project - the resurfacing of our fantastic astroturf, which is in much need of some TLC, so every penny really does count!

As a thank you, the class that returns the most envelopes will win a campfire experience with Mrs. Armstrong.

Thank you for your continued support of FOBS.

Parking Reminder

Parents are advised that residents living on Hollingford Place were unable to have their bins emptied this week. This was due to cars being parked on the grass verge, which obstructed access for the waste collection vehicle.

We kindly ask everyone to be mindful of parking arrangements to ensure essential services, such as bin collections, can operate without disruption.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Snack Reminder

Just a reminder that children are encouraged to bring in a healthy snack each day for morning break (no chocolate bars or crisps please!).

Great snack ideas include:

  • Fruit, cheese, yoghurt

  • Raisins or currants

  • Cucumber or carrot sticks

  • Oatmeal biscuits

A quick reminder that nuts should not be brought into school, as we have several children with severe nut allergies - thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.

Key Stage 2 pupils (Year 3 and above):

On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, children can purchase toast, a bagels or cheese on toast slices from the kitchen at morning break. These are paid for in cash on the day and children are responsible for looking after their money.

Infant children (Reception - Y2):

Infant Children can continue to enjoy free fruit each day as part of the Government’s National Healthy Eating Scheme.  Children are welcome to bring in their own healthy snack if they prefer.

Thanks so much for your continued support in promoting healthy habits!

World Book Day - 6th March

Although World Book Day is officially on Thursday 5th March, we will be celebrating a day later on Friday 6th March.

As always, children are invited to come dressed as one of their favourite book characters, which we hope gives everyone enough time (and flexibility!) to get costumes organised if needed.

The staff, however, are not quite so lucky…  They have already been given this year’s secret dressing-up theme. Will you be able to guess what it is when we all come together on the 6th March?!

There will be plenty of reading-themed activities throughout the day, along with an interactive assembly to celebrate the joy of reading. We are very much looking forward to sharing the fun with all the children!

Triathlon 2026

On Monday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Daphne from Restless Development to our assembly. She shared exciting news about a triathlon event taking place on Sunday 28th June, at Cheadle Hulme School. The event is open to pupils in Years 3-6 and is charity run, raising funds to support young people. While this is not a school-led event, we encourage all interested pupils to participate. Children will need to form teams of four and come up with a team name. Parents will be responsible for signing up their child(ren) and can find all the details on the attached PDF information sheets. Participants will receive a medal, a free t-shirt and some sweets, making for a fun day for everyone involved! We look forward to seeing lots of Bexton students take part in this fantastic event and proudly wear their medals!  Over 60 children participated from Bexton last year which was incredible!  Any questions about the event can be sent to Restless Development directly at schoolstriathlon@restlessdevelopment.org

Little Champions - Reception

Well done to some of our Reception children who took part in the Little Champions event at Knutsford Academy on Thursday evening. It was the very first time they have represented our school and they absolutely shone, proudly demonstrating all of our school values throughout the event. Their enthusiasm, teamwork and positive attitudes made them true ambassadors for our school – they were absolute stars! Mrs. Rea and Miss. Hindmarch were incredibly proud of each and every one of them.

Music

Last week, Mrs Vale treated every class to two full days of magical music across the school.

Our Infant children loved bringing stories and poems to life through sound: from penguin-themed percussion to using boomwhackers to recreate In the Pond and The Rainbow Fish. There was lots of excitement as the children explored rhythm, instruments and teamwork in a fun and engaging way.

Meanwhile, our Junior children showcased fantastic creativity as they created soundscapes linked to stories, mountains, rivers and nature themes. Using a range of instruments, boom whackers and even music technology, they worked together to compose and perform impressive pieces of music.

It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm, collaboration and musical talent across the whole school — a truly memorable experience for everyone! Thank you Mrs. Vale. 🎵

Eco News

After a walk in the rain, splashing in puddles and having mud fun, a warm drink in the warmth and a great book to read is the ideal cozy comfort.
