Team Talks

As part of The Pathway, every class at Bexton takes part in fortnightly Team Talks. These are short, structured sessions where pupils and staff pause together to reflect, connect and strengthen the culture of our school.

Team Talks are inspired by the idea that we are a team, not spectators. They are designed to give children a safe, regular space to practise the skills and values of The Pathway in a focused way.

The Purpose of Team Talks

·         Belonging - Every child feels part of something bigger than themselves.

·         Voice - Pupils are encouraged to speak, listen and share openly.

·         Character - Sessions build confidence, resilience, empathy and leadership.

·         Reflection - Children have time to think about who they are becoming on The Pathway.

The Structure of a Team Talk

Each session follows a clear rhythm so pupils feel secure and know what to expect:

1.       Opening Ritual - A consistent starter activity to build connection (e.g. greeting circle, check-in question, energiser).

2.       Theme Introduction - Linking to one of the five Trails: Performance, Social, Community, Team, or Communication.

3.       Discussion - A guided conversation where all voices are heard.

4.       Collaborative Activity - A practical task that brings the theme to life.

5.       Reflection & Closing Ritual - A chance for personal commitment (“One thing I will try this week is…”) and a shared ending to reinforce unity.

The Link to The Pathway

Every Team Talk is rooted in The Pathway. The five Trails shape the focus of each session:

·         Performance - building confidence and self-expression.

·         Social - deepening kindness and empathy.

·         Community - strengthening belonging and responsibility.

·         Team - practising collaboration and leadership.

·         Communication - developing speaking and listening skills.

Why Team Talks Matter

Over time, Team Talks will:

·         Embed our school values of Be Positive, Be Hardworking, Be Respectful, Be Kind and Never Give Up.

·         Strengthen relationships within classes and across year groups.

·         Help pupils connect personal growth with academic aspiration.

·         Ensure that The Pathway is not just a framework on paper but a living culture experienced every day.
