Grandparents' Day

What a wonderful day we had welcoming grandparents and special family members into Bexton! It was lovely to see so many familiar faces around school and to share a little glimpse of life at Bexton with those who are such an important part of our children’s lives.

The celebrations began with performances from each year group, with the children singing their themed songs to a very appreciative audience. There were plenty of proud smiles, enthusiastic singing and some very special moments along the way!

Our visitors then had the chance to join the children in their classrooms, finding out more about what they have been learning and taking part in activities together. There was also time to explore our school grounds and see some of the spaces where our children learn, play and grow each day.

Thank you to all of our grandparents and family members who joined us. Your support and enthusiasm made the day really special, and we loved having you as part of our Bexton community!

Parents' Meetings - Wednesday 14th October 2026

We’re pleased to let you know that our Autumn Parents' Meetings will be held on Wednesday 14th October.

This is a great chance to chat with your child’s class teacher about how your child has settled into their new year group, either online or in person.

·                     Online appointments: 1:30–3:00pm and 3:30–4:20pm (via Microsoft Teams)

·                     Face-to-face meetings: 4:40–6:50pm in classrooms

Look out for an email on Thursday 1st October with details on how to book your appointment.

Bookings can then be made via the SCOPAY Parents’ Evening tab from Friday 2nd October at 4:00pm until Friday 9th October at 9:00am (first come, first served).

Parents choosing an online appointment will receive a Microsoft Teams link after bookings close. For face-to-face meetings, please arrive via the main reception.

If your child is on a SEND Support plan, you do not need to book – your child’s teacher will contact you separately.

We very much look forward to meeting with you.

Attendance - reminder about term-time absence and penalty notices

We are very grateful for the continued support of our families in ensuring that children attend school regularly. We know that there will, of course, be occasions when children are genuinely too unwell to attend and we will always work with families where there are difficulties affecting a child’s attendance.

Cheshire East Council has asked schools to remind parents and carers about the national arrangements for unauthorised absence and Penalty Notices, particularly in relation to holidays taken during term time.

Headteachers are only able to authorise leave of absence during term time in exceptional circumstances. Holidays and family trips would not normally meet this criteria. Where leave is not authorised and a child is absent from school, the absence will be recorded as unauthorised and may be referred to Cheshire East Council for consideration of a Penalty Notice.

The national threshold for considering a Penalty Notice is 10 sessions of unauthorised absence within a rolling period of 10 school weeks. As each school day consists of two sessions, this is usually equivalent to 5 school days. The absences do not have to be consecutive and different types of unauthorised absence can be combined when calculating the threshold.

If a Penalty Notice is issued:

• First Penalty Notice: £160 per parent/carer, per child, reduced to £80 if paid within 21 days.

• Second Penalty Notice within 3 years for the same child: £160 per parent/carer, per child, payable within 28 days, with no reduced rate.

• Third offence within 3 years: a further Penalty Notice cannot be issued and the Local Authority may instead consider prosecution through the courts.

We appreciate that this is quite formal information but Cheshire East has asked schools to ensure that all parents and carers are aware of the arrangements in advance. Our priority remains working positively with families to support good attendance and we would always encourage parents to contact us if there are circumstances affecting their child’s attendance.

A Reminder about our School Car Park 🚗

A quick reminder to everyone about taking extra care around the school car park, particularly at busy drop-off and collection times.

The car park can be a busy place. Please help us to keep everyone safe by following the guidance below:

• Please do not use the car park as a shortcut. When walking to or from school, please use the pavement and the designated pedestrian entry and exit paths rather than walking through the car park.

• Driving slowly and carefully and being mindful of children and families who may be moving around the area.

• Only using the car park if you are authorised to do so by the school. This includes access for Breakfast Club, After School Club and club collection times.

• Please do not use the car park as a turning area.

Thank you for helping us to keep our children, families and staff safe.

Throat Lozenges

We have noticed over the past couple of weeks that some children have been bringing throat lozenges, such as Strepsils, into school. Although these may seem like everyday items, many throat lozenges are medicated and include recommended dosages and maximum daily limits. For this reason, they must be treated as medication. If your child needs throat lozenges during the school day, please hand them to the school office and complete a medication consent form. They should not be kept by children in their bags or pockets. We kindly ask that throat lozenges are only sent into school when absolutely necessary. Thank you for your support in helping us keep all children safe.

October Half Term Holiday Club

Year 4 Harvest Festival

Year 4 had a wonderful time visiting Knutsford Methodist Church for a special Harvest Experience. The children enjoyed a range of activities and learnt all about where our food comes from and the importance of caring for our environment.

They had the opportunity to plant bulbs, make their own clay pots and learn about the Fruit of the Spirit, thinking about how these values can be demonstrated in our everyday lives.

The children were all brilliantly behaved throughout the visit and represented Bexton wonderfully. We were incredibly proud of the way they listened, participated enthusiastically and showed kindness and respect.

Children's Book Project

Some of our amazing new librarians have helped to sort out a huge number of books that we are donating to a charity which gives books to children who are not fortunate enough to have their own books at home. #community trail.

Knutsford Junior Netball Club - Volunteer Coaches

Knutsford Junior Netball Club are looking to recruit volunteer coaches to help run a Year 5 training session for local netballers.
