BEXFEST Tombola - Donations Welcome!

This year at BEXFEST, we’ll be running a tombola and would love your help to make it a success. If you have any new or unused items at home that you’d be happy to donate, please drop them off at reception by Thursday 15th May.

Suggested donations include bottles, unopened toiletries, sweet treats, unwanted gifts, new children’s games, and similar items.

The more we receive, the better the tombola – thank you for your continued support!

Staffing Update

It has been a busy few weeks as we’ve been interviewing for two new teachers who will join us in September, following the pending departure of the wonderful Mrs Stephenson and Miss Dickinson.

Mrs Stephenson will be retiring at the end of this academic year (though we agree—it hardly seems possible she’s old enough!). She has made a tremendous impact on our school community and while her absence will be deeply felt, we wish her every happiness in her well-earned retirement.

Miss Dickinson is embarking on an exciting adventure, spending a year (or possibly more) travelling and teaching abroad. We're all a little envious, of course, but we couldn’t be happier for her. She’ll be greatly missed and has promised to keep in touch with updates from her travels around the world.

We will be confirming our staffing structure for September and formally introducing our new members of staff in the coming weeks. Thank you for your continued support.

Parent Governor Elections

We are pleased to announce that Sarah Stafford and Kristina Gol were successfully re-elected to the Local Governing Body just before the holidays. They will each serve a second term as parent governor representatives.

We are delighted to continue working with them and greatly value the experience and commitment they bring to our school community.

May Holiday Club

Bookings for our upcoming Holiday Club are now open on Scopay! We have an action-packed week planned, full of fun and engaging activities for the children.

Highlights of the week will include:

  • Sports sessions with Mr Withnell

  • Forest school adventures

  • Creative craft projects

  • Baking activities

The Holiday Club will run during the upcoming school break. Please note that places are limited, so we encourage you to book early to avoid disappointment. Bookings will close on Friday, 16th May.

Year 4 Conway

Conway was a spectacular experience! The weather was perfect, the activities were exciting and of course the dorms were a big hit with the children. The staff thoroughly enjoyed supporting the children and watching their team work skills develop with the superb guidance of the Conway staff members. We all had a fantastic time!

May Day Afternoon

Last Friday, the infant children celebrated May Day. There was a parade, music, maypole dancing and a picnic in the sunshine. A great day was had by all!

Eco News

April showers brings forth May flowers

The latter is certainly true however this year weather records show we have just experienced the sunniest record for the UK.  With less rain, it's more important than ever to care for our plants, especially fruit and vegetables that need regular watering to grow well.

  1. Only water early morning or late evening so evaporation rates are reduced

  2. Water at base of plants

3. Consider buying a water butt

  1. Dirty water/soapy water already used for bathing/washing can be recycled in the garden

5. Add mulch(leaf mold /cocoa shells/wood chippings) to reduce evaporation

6. Remove weeds so moisture is absorbed by crops

  1. Avoid digging to reduce moisture being lost to air

  2. Freshly sown seeds need more tlc and water to establish

  3. Divert rain water running off hard surface onto wildlife friendly spaces

Click the link for a fun and educational guide to help children learn how to use water wisely and efficiently, so gardens can continue to thrive!

Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday Faith, Noah, Bertie and William, thank you, for your fabulous books!
