Year 1 & 2 Little Champions
Some of our Year 1 and Year 2 children visited the local high school yesterday for the Little Champions Competition, where they had a fantastic time taking part in a multi-skills session. The activities focused on developing coordination, reaction time, hand-ball skills and careful listening. The children were enthusiastic, well-behaved and thoroughly enjoyed trying new activities in a different setting. A big thank you to the staff and students at the high school for making the visit so enjoyable and memorable for our pupils.
School Council
This week, some of our School Ambassadors, alongside Mrs. Franklin, ran their first Wellbeing Lunchtime Club of the year. Children enjoyed mindful colouring, setting goals for 2026 and playing board games together. The club provides a calm and welcoming space for children to relax, connect and take time for their wellbeing each week.
Year 1 Science
Last week, our year 1 scientists explored melting and freezing by rescuing a toy trapped in ice. Using a range of heat sources, the children investigated how warmth changes materials and which methods worked best. They also took on a challenge to melt an ice cube as quickly as possible using only their hands.
Eco News
Have a spare hour this weekend? Then join in the big garden bird watch. Get a drink, snack and sit in a comfy chair to look outside and see which birds visit your garden. It might be early in the morning or before dusk . A group of blue tits or a pair of pigeons may settle to rest in front of you. If you don't recognise the bird - jot down features and try and identify it later using the RSPB identification guide. Record how many birds land in your area and either submit online to the above link or bring in your recordings for Mrs. Ledwith , Tuesday 27th January.
One year, no birds came to my garden!
All results count, have fun.
Happy Birthday!
