A Wonderful First Half Term!
I can't quite believe we're at the end of our first half term already! It's been a busy few weeks, but the time has flown by and it's been lovely to see the children settle back into school life so quickly and already making such good progress.
There have been so many highlights, including the swimming pool, which was a huge success. We've also enjoyed some great results in inter-school sports competitions, alongside opportunities for children to try a range of different sports and activities.
Another highlight was welcoming our grandparents into school for our annual Grandparents' Day concert. Considering some of our youngest children had only been in school for three weeks, they really did make us proud! It has also been lovely to see the quality of work being produced across school and the way the children have embraced so many new challenges whilst continuing to demonstrate our Bexton values. I think it's safe to say everyone is ready for a well-earned rest!
Looking ahead, next half term promises to be another busy one, with Christmas activities and celebrations beginning not long after we return, so there's certainly plenty to look forward to. 🙂
A quick reminder that Monday 2nd November is an INSET day, so we look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Tuesday 3rd November.
In the meantime, thank you, as always, for your continued support. I hope you all have a lovely half-term break and enjoy some well-deserved family time!

FOBs - An Exciting Year Ahead!
A huge thank you to everyone who attended the FOBs planning meeting on Monday 12th October. It was an incredibly positive and productive meeting, with lots of fantastic ideas for fundraising events throughout the 2026–27 academic year!
This year, the FOBs team are particularly keen to support fundraising for our new sensory garden, which will transform the area previously occupied by the old portacabin into a wonderful space to enhance our OPAL play and learning opportunities.
We have a fun-filled year of events ahead, with something for everyone! Please make a note of the following dates for your diaries, along with the year groups who have kindly volunteered to coordinate each event.
FOBs Events Calendar 2026–27
Friday 13th November – Neon Disco (Reception)
Thursday 26th November – Wreath Making in the Hall (Year 4)
Wednesday 2nd December – Christmas Lights Extravaganza (All year groups – please see separate information from your FOBs groups about the different activities planned)
Friday 22nd January – Cinema Night (Year 2)
Monday 8th February – Red Envelope Week (Year 6)
Friday 12th March – Family Bingo Night (Cygnets and Swans)
Friday 23rd April – Colour Run (Year 5)
Friday 14th May – "Country and Bexton" Event (TBC)
Friday 11th June – Break the Rules Day (School)
Friday 25th June – Sports Day Refreshments (Year 3)
Friday 9th July – Summer Disco (Year 1)
One of the things we are particularly keen to emphasise is that we don't expect parents to help with every event! Instead, each year group has volunteered to take the lead on a particular activity, helping to share the workload and make getting involved manageable and enjoyable for everyone, so please do get involved with your year group where you can 🙂.
There is so much to look forward to and we are incredibly grateful to our wonderful FOBs team and everyone gives their time and energy to make these events possible.
Please keep an eye on your year group WhatsApp groups and the bulletin for further details and updates.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support 🙂
Lunch Menu and Payments
The school lunch menu will be changing after half term, please note that jacket potatoes and pasta will be served each day from now on. Please find the new menu attached.
We also kindly ask all parents and carers to check their child's lunch account and clear any outstanding balances by Friday 30th October. Payments can be made quickly and easily via SCOPAY. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
Extra Curricular Clubs
All extracurricular clubs have now finished for this half term. The new club’s timetable (Autumn 2) will be emailed on Monday 2nd November, with bookings for school-run clubs opening on Wednesday 4th November at 12 noon.
A Reminder About Safe Routes to School
We have been asked by our neighbours at Knutsford Academy to remind parents and carers not to use their Bexton Road staff car park as a shortcut when walking to or from school.
The car park is particularly busy in the mornings, with staff vehicles arriving until approximately 8.45am, and there are understandable concerns about the safety of pedestrians, particularly young children and those on scooters.
Please could we ask families to use the designated pedestrian routes via Cranford Avenue instead.
Many thanks for your understanding and support in helping to keep everyone safe.

Year 6 Blists Hill
Year 6 had a wonderful day stepping back in time at Blists Hill Victorian Town! The children enjoyed sweet treats from the old-fashioned sweet shop; traditional fish and chips cooked in beef dripping; and a visit to the Victorian photographers, where they dressed in period clothing. They also explored the fascinating trades of the blacksmiths, bakers and candle makers before heading to the schoolroom, dressed as Victorian children, for a whistle-stop tour of Victorian education! From practising their handwriting, times tables and spellings to experiencing an extremely strict teacher armed with a cane, the children certainly discovered that school life was rather different in Victorian times!
The children had the best day, as did the staff who accompanied them. We were incredibly proud of how respectful, polite and well-mannered they were throughout the visit, representing our wonderful school so beautifully.
A huge thank you to the parents who joined us and generously gave their time to support the trip. It is thanks to your support that our children can enjoy these enriching opportunities to bring their learning to life beyond the classroom.
Nursery
It has been wonderful to be back after a lovely summer break, and we have absolutely loved welcoming our children back, as well as greeting some new faces to our setting! The children have settled in brilliantly and have been fully embracing all the wonderful activities provided by our incredible staff. We have enjoyed lots of autumnal adventures, from exploring the changing seasons and going on barefoot walks to exciting treasure hunts. Most importantly, we have loved watching friendships blossom and seeing the children make lots of lovely new friends. It has been a fantastic start to the new term, full of fun, exploration, laughter and happy memories
Reception
🥕🥣 Inspired by Pumpkin Soup, and as part of their Bright Beginnings Day, our Reception children became little chefs! 👩🍳 They peeled, chopped and worked together as a team, just like the characters in the story. 📚
We loved making our own vegetable soup, but tasting it was definitely the best part! 😋💛
🎃📚 A little bit of pumpkin magic in Reception! 📚🎃
Our Reception children also had a fantastic time joining the Scholastic Book Club event alongside lots of other schools! 🌟We were so lucky to meet the author and illustrator of The Pumpkin Thief, who brought the story to life by reading it to us. 📖✨ We then got creative as the illustrator took us through a step-by-step draw-along, helping us create our very own squirrel, pumpkin, and bird! 🎨🎃
Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair returns during the first week back after half term! 📚 Come along and browse the fantastic range of books available, with something to inspire every young reader.
Musician of the Month
The musician of the month for October is Stevie Wonder. The children have learned about him in assembly and enjoyed listening to his music. Attached is the home information sheet so that you can enjoy his music together too.
Eco News
Looking for a fun activity to enjoy with the children over October half term? Have a go at carving or decorating a pumpkin together! From spooky faces to creative designs, there are plenty of ideas to inspire little artists. Take a look at the suggestions here and get creative this half term!
Happy Birthday!
