A Fresh New Look Around School!
Over the summer, our staff have worked incredibly hard to revamp and refresh areas across school, creating spaces that feel warm, welcoming and engaging for our children. From refreshed displays to newly designed learning spaces to brand new Year 1 and Year 2 toilets, we have been busy making sure our school environment reflects the pride we have in our school and, most importantly, gives our children inspiring places to learn, explore and thrive.
Swimming Starts Next Week
A reminder that our onsite swimming sessions will begin next Monday (7th) for children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.
All children will have the opportunity to swim in our onsite pool, with an additional focus on supporting children to achieve the National Curriculum requirements for swimming confidently and competently by the end of Year 6.
As outlined in the letter sent home earlier this week, please could children bring their swimming kit into school every day for the next two weeks, including:
Swimming costume/trunks
Swimming cap
Goggles
Towel
Sliders or flip-flops
The sessions are always great fun and, because children swim in small groups, they provide a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, develop swimming skills and give every child the best possible opportunity for learning to swim and enjoy the water.
We’re looking forward to getting everyone back in the pool!
Meet The Teacher
A reminder that we will be hosting our "Meet the Teacher" session on Wednesday 9th September for Reception to Y6 and Rainbow Room parents (Pre-School will hold their session slightly later in the term).
To help parents visit more than one classroom, we'll run two identical sessions:
• Doors open at 4:50pm so you can make your way to the relevant classroom
• 5:00-5:25pm Session 1 (in your child's classroom)
• 5:30-5:55pm Session 2 (in your child's classroom)
• If you have only one child, we suggest you come to the second session
At 6:00pm there will be a short talk in the hall from the leadership team to share the school's priorities for the year at Bexton. We expect this to last around half an hour. Please do try to attend if you can - we greatly value the chance to build strong relationships with parents and keep you informed about the positive things happening at Bexton.
A Reminder About School Uniform
As we start a new academic year, this is a perfect opportunity to remind families about our school uniform expectations.
We ask all families to support our uniform policy as it helps to create a strong sense of belonging and pride in our school, promotes equality amongst our children and, importantly, ensures that children are safe, comfortable and ready to learn throughout the school day.
A few little reminders as we begin the new term:
• Jewellery should not be worn, with the exception of a watch and small stud earrings.
• Smart watches must not be worn in school, in line with our policy on mobile and connected devices and current government guidance.
• Please remember to remove any nail varnish that may still be hanging on after the summer holidays!
If you are unsure about any aspect of our uniform, please take a look at the Uniform Expectations on our school website.
We also have a large amount of good-quality pre-loved uniform available from the school office. If you need any additional jumpers, cardigans, shirts, trousers or skirts, please just ask – these are available for a small donation to FOBS.
Thank you for your support in helping our children to look smart, feel part of our Bexton community and start the new school year ready to learn.
Grandparents' Day - Friday 25th September
We are very much looking forward to welcoming grandparents back to Bexton for our annual Grandparents’ Day on Friday 25th September 2026.
Grandparents will have the opportunity to join us for either a morning or afternoon session, where they will be treated to a special performance from the children before heading into classrooms to spend some time with their grandchildren and see a little bit of Bexton life in action!
Further information will be sent out next week, including details of the morning and afternoon timings and how to book tickets. Please keep an eye out for the letter as tickets will be required for all visitors.
We are always keen to welcome as many grandparents as possible and, due to the capacity of the event, we are unfortunately unable to accommodate parents on this occasion. If grandparents are unable to attend, families are very welcome to invite another relative, family friend or neighbour to come along in their place.
As you would expect, we’ll have our usual arrangements in place to make sure the day runs smoothly. If you would like your child to go home with their grandparent or visitor at the end of the session, we’ll ask you to let us know in advance via a Microsoft Forms link, which will be included with the booking information.
It is always such a special day in our school calendar and we’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone!
Birthday Treats
Just a little reminder that, in line with our Managing Allergens procedures and recent updates linked to Benedict’s Law, we kindly ask families not to send food or birthday treats into school to celebrate children’s birthdays.
Instead, we love children to bring in a book to share with their class to mark their special day. This gives everyone a lovely way to celebrate together whilst helping us to keep all of our children safe.
Thank you, as always, for your understanding and support.
Permission to Walk Home
As children grow in independence, parents of pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 have the option to update their child’s permission to walk home independently. If you would like to give permission for your child to walk home without an adult, please complete the online permission form here: Permission to walk home (year 4 onwards) September 2026 – Fill out form
If you are happy for your child’s walking home arrangements from last year to remain unchanged, you do not need to take any action.
A reminder:
Permission applies to the whole week; unfortunately, we are unable to manage permissions for individual days.
By granting permission, you are agreeing that your child will leave the classroom independently at the end of the school day. This includes occasions where you may be meeting them at the school gate or elsewhere on the playground (for example, at a younger sibling’s classroom).
Thank you for helping us to keep our end-of-day arrangements clear and consistent.
Healthy Eating and Nut Free Reminder
As part of our commitment to giving children the best possible start in life, we are following the latest government guidance on healthy eating. We want to do all we can to support our children and families in making positive food choices, so we kindly ask that you do your best to follow this guidance when preparing your child’s packed lunches and snacks.
We would also like to remind everyone that our school and preschool are strictly nut-free. Some of our children have severe, life-threatening allergies, so it is vital that no nuts or nut-containing products are brought into school. Please take extra care when packing food to ensure the safety of all children.
Thank you for your support and understanding in keeping our school community healthy and safe.
School Dinners
Please find attached the lunch menu for this half term. The price for a school dinner is now £3.05.
Autumn 1 Clubs
The new Autumn 1 club timetable will be emailed on Monday. Bexton clubs will be available to book via Scopay at 12pm on Wednesday 9th September. Clubs will begin the week commencing Monday 14th September.
The Health Edit - Saturday 19th September - Booths Park Knutsford
Join us for a feel-good day of movement, music, learning and community at our outdoor wellbeing festival.
Designed to inspire healthier, happier living, the festival brings together local fitness instructors, wellbeing practitioners, expert speakers, musicians, community businesses and families for a fun, welcoming day out. Whether you're looking to try something new, discover practical health tips, enjoy live entertainment or simply connect with others, there's something for everyone.
More than just a festival, this event celebrates the power of small, positive lifestyle changes that can support long-term health and wellbeing. Through movement, education and shared experiences, we hope to inspire people of all ages to look after both their body and mind.
The festival was inspired by the experiences of families affected by Alzheimer's, with a mission to raise awareness of the importance of brain health and preventative wellbeing. As a not-for-profit community event, every ticket helps support Alzheimer's research and organisations working to improve brain health, including a focus on women's brain health.
Come along, bring your friends and family, and enjoy a day filled with energy, connection and inspiration while supporting a meaningful cause. Moreover, our very own Mrs Leach will be running a dance session!
